Quentin Bryce

Quentin Bryce became the first woman to hold the office of Governor-General, Australia’s highest representative role.

Before this she broke new ground as the first woman to serve as Governor of Queensland (2003–2008). The work of the office required combining absolute institutional dignity with a warm, accessible humanity.

Shadow Violet showcases a split-personality chemistry on the custom-textured foundation.

Instead of remaining a uniform hue, the multi-pigment blend separates across ridges and valleys. Smoky blue-violet grips the deep shadows under the brim of her iconic hat, her hair and her piercing gaze. Simultaneously a delicate warm orange-brown undertone bleeds into the surrounding textures, pooling at lower right and crowning the hat.

Deep violet for the gravity and stoic weight of the Crown; warm brown separation for the approachable humanity she brought to the role. The pigment literally splits to show both sides of that leadership.
